Baseball – Division II

  1. Selection of chair:  The host of the Region tournament serves as chair.
  2. Selection of Coach of the Year:  The Region winner is Coach of the Year.
  3. Selection of Region competition site:  The site is determined by blind draw. That sets up the rotation.  If a team does not host, the next institution will host.

  1. Award Policy:  First place team award.  Thirty individual medals/awards to first place team. Twelve individual plaques for All Region team.
  2. All Region selections:  Coaches nominate any number of players desired.  The selection takes place at a meeting the week prior to the region tournament.  4 infielders, 3 outfielders, catcher, DH, and three pitchers are chosen.  Ties must be voted upon.  All credentials, as determined by the NJCAA, must be presented to be eligible.  Players are to be rated 1-12.
  3. All American nominations:  All the All Region selections are nominated.
  4. Code of Conduct:  As appears in the NJCAA Handbook.
  5. Regional Tournament:
    1. Seeding:  The seeding meeting takes place on Monday the week of the tournament.  The host institution chairs the meeting.
    2. Officials:  The host institution secures the officials.
    3. Type of play:  Double elimination tournament.
    4. Site Selection:  Refer to C above.
    5. Type of ball:  Regional coaches vote by simple majority.  Each institution responsible for providing one dozen balls.
    6. Pre-tournament practice:  The host institution sets up practice schedule if possible.
    7. Scouting information to outside institutions:  Scouting information to non-region institutions discouraged.
    8. Financial arrangements:  Host institution responsible for all expenses with the exception of umpire fees, which are pro-rated.  Each participating institution is to provide one dozen approved baseballs.  Host institution is to provide a program.
