NJCAA Region 16 Sport Codes
Men’s Soccer – Division I

  1. Selection of chair:  Region director names chair and selects committee.
  2. Selection of Coach of the Year:  The Region winner is Coach of the Year.
  3. Award Policy:  First place team award.  Twenty-four individual awards are given to the championship team.  Eleven individual plaques for All Region team.
  4. All Region selections:  Coaches may nominate any number of players desired.  The AD liaison is responsible for conducting the selection procedure.  The top eleven vote getters are to be designated 1st team and the second eleven players 2nd team.  Ties must be voted upon.  All documentation must be provided. 

  5. All-American nominations:  The top three vote getters are nominated.
  6. Code of Conduct:  As appears in the NJCAA Handbook.
  7. Teams are to play each other one time during the regular season. If institutions play more than once, the first contest between the two institutions shall count as the Regional game for seeding purposes.

  8. Region Tournament:
    1. Seeding:  The AD liaison conducts the seeding.

                                       i.      Seed in order relative to total points based on 3 points for a win, 1 for a tie.  This scoring is for Region XVI opponents.

                                     ii.      In the event of a tie: 
- Break the tie by determining the outcome of the regular season game/s between the schools.

- Rank the tied teams by total goals scored in regular season games between the tied schools up to a maximum of three (3) goals per game.

                                             - Rank the teams by fewest goals scored against in regular season games between the tied schools, up to three (3) goals per game.

                                              - Seed by random drawing of names out of the hat, supervised by the Dean of Student Services of the liaisons” school.

    1. Officials:  The host institution is responsible for securing from the respective association.
    2. Type of play:  Single elimination.
    3. Any player listed on the NJCAA game roster form shall be eligible to participate in the tie-breaker.
    4. Site selection:  First round action will take place on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the site of the higher seed.  Semi-finals are to be held on the following Friday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. with the highest seed playing at 2:00 p.m.  If games are played under lights, times will be announced.  (For site, refer to rotation.)  Finals are to be played on Sunday (following the semi-finals) at 1:00 p.m.

    5. Type of ball: NJCAA approved ball
    6. Pre-tournament practice:  No pre-tournament practice on game site.
    7. Filming of your games is permissible.  Filming of opponent games is not permissible.  Films are not to be shared among institutions.
    8. Scouting information to outside institutions:  Scouting information to non-region institutions is discouraged.
    9. Financial arrangements:  Fees for officials and potential field rental will be pro-rated between the participating teams.
    10. Host school has option to charge admission.  If so, financial statement must be filed by December 1.
