As a follow-up to the 2008 Education Conference in Jefferson City, MACTE asked that the membership help us identify the three most important goals we need to pursue as an organization during the next couple of years.  Over 75% of the membership have voted, and the following goals have been identied to guide our work:

1.  To promote a unified voice of professional educators to influence educational policies

2.  To encourage DESE to develop a web-based assessment system where each institution could submit yearly data.  MACTE will set up a committee to develop the assessments to be used by all institutions.  The MoSTEP process must be incorporated into this process.

3.  Identify essential initial competencies for beginning teacher certification
