Explanation of Notes

1. Publications. The MAS produces four types of publications. The Missouri Archaeologist (MA in the list) is the primary publication, and it has been published yearly (with a small hiatus during WWII) since 1935. In fact, in the beginning and for many years, the Society published multiple issues per year so there is Volume 27 No. 1, Volume 27 No. 2, and Volume Nos. 3–4. (I don’t know how they decided when to have a single number and when to combine them.) Two of the volumes have been reprinted (14 and 22) and that is indicated with “(R)” following the volume number in the list. The Society has also published Memoirs (Mem. in the list) periodically. The other two types of publications are the Research Series (R.S. in the list) and Special Publications (S.P. in the list).
2. In Print? This indicates whether the publication is in or out of print. Those in print can be ordered from the MAS office. Those out of print can be copied for 10¢ per page plus a postage and handling fee. If a book is still in print, you may not order just the article for the per/page copying fee—you must order the whole issue. Please allow 10–14 days to process orders for out-of-print issues.
3. Pages. This indicates the number of pages in the publication pertaining to the county in question. If there is only one number, that indicates that there are about that many pages pertaining to the county. If there are two numbers with a slash (21/88) that indicates that there are 21 pages in the bulletin pertaining to the county and 67 pages pertaining to something else. It is only an estimate because many of the articles pertain to multiple counties, and it is impossible to accurately separate how many pages pertain to which. In some cases where a 40-page report combines information from 3 counties, and it is difficult to estimate, all 3 counties will show 40 pages.
In another example, Vol. 58 pertains to Early Woodland and there are listings for the counties with significant mention plus a listing for Early Woodland in the Topics section.
A - or + following the number of pages indicates there are less or more pages, usually when the article pertains to one county predominantly but has sections which don’t, or when there is a core section pertaining to the county but there may be general information in other parts of the book. “Minor” means there is a minor amount of information pertaining to the county in the article.
4. Price. The prices are as of 2006 and subject to change without notice. After 2006 please visit the MAS Web site (http://associations.missouristate.edu/mas/) or contact the office for current prices. For those bulletins still in print the price is for the whole publication, not just that article. So, for example, if there are three articles in Vol. 42 of interest to you, you can buy Vol. 42 for $5.00 and have those three plus whatever else may be in the volume.
5. Title. The titles have been edited to fit available space in the list and may not match the title in the article exactly.

** MA 9 was issued as No. 19. It was the 19th publication issued and for some reason instead of following the practice of identifying it as Vol. 9 it was called No. 19. With Vol. 10 they went back to the previous practice of identifying a volume for each year, and then having numbers within volume when appropriate.

To order publications please specify quantity, volume number, and cost. Send orders to the MAS office. Please contact the office if you have questions or visit the MAS Web site for more information on publications.
Discounts Members have the privilege of buying publications published by the Society at a 10% discount. If you are eligible, please mention the discount on your order form. Discounts do not apply to copied, out-of-print publications. For those who wish to join the Society and enjoy the discount privilege, membership is $15 per year. Simply send your name, address, daytime phone, and e-mail along with your dues (a membership form can also be found on the Web site).

Terms Prepayment must accompany all orders for individuals. VISA or MasterCard is acceptable (for foreign customers also). Name of card holder, card number, expiration date, and daytime phone number must be given with the order. Checks from foreign customers must be in US dollars and drawn on a US bank. A Canadian postal money order may also be used. If this is not possible, a $10 fee must be paid in advance.

Postage and Handling Add $3.00 for the first book ordered and .50¢ for each additional book. Special handling for faster delivery can be arranged (e.g., Priority Mail or UPS); please contact the office for specifics. For out-of-print titles, estimate $1.50 for 1–100 pages; $2.50 for 101–200 pages; $3.50 for 201–400 pages; and $4.50 for 401 plus pages.

International Postage and Handling For book rate, estimate $6.00 for the first book and $1.50 for each additional. More efficient methods are available—contact the office for accurate charges and shipping times.
