Annual Meeting Minutes

HELIX Conference – March 30, 2007

Attendance: Todd Kuhns, Truman State University; Grayson Gordon, MSU-West Plains; Barry Bookout, East Central College; Rob Hornberger, Missouri State; Wess Hudelson, UMKC; Chad Killingsworth, Missouri State; Shelly Brown, Southwest Baptist University; Brian Heaton, Missouri State; Mark Carl, Marysville University.

Chair Mark Carl gave a brief description of HighEdWeb.

Election of new officers for 2005-2006:

• Wess Hudelson from University of Missouri-KC was elected Chair-Elect.
• Todd Kuhns, Truman University was elected Secretary.

Open Discussion:

How can we determine what topics to address at next year’s conference?

It was decided that an email will be sent to the HighEdWeb listserv asking what topics should be addressed at the next conference.

Is there anything more that we could be doing as a group?

We will possibly become a state chapter of the HighEdWedDev. We could then assist in establishing better job descriptions for web-related positions. Brian Heaton explained that on the CUPA (College and University Professional Association) surveys, there are only two descriptions for web-related occupations: Webmaster and Web Developer (or Web Programmer), both of which are inaccurate. They are on the CUPA (College and University Professional Association) surveys, which can be found at www.cupahr.org.

What can we do to improve the web track next year?

• Best of track session
• Two sessions for each time slot
• Poster sessions

What can we do to solicit our group?

Revisit with Missouri Higher Education webmasters just prior to HELIX 2008.
