Adopt-A-Minefield

"Landmine survivors worldwide long for a day when the weapon that scarred our bodies and killed our loved ones is forever abolished from the face of the earth."
-Ken Rutherford
Landmine Survivor
Co-Founder, Landmine Survivors Network

The Adopt-A-Minefield Campaign engages individuals, community groups, and businesses in the United Nations effort to resolve the global landmine crisis. The Campaign helps save lives by raising funds to clear minefields and by raising awareness about the landmine problem.

Early in 2001, Nahela Hadi, acting Secretary Executive Director of the UNA-USA campaign, flew to Springfield to receive over $12,000 collected locally for landmine clearing. Extending congratulations on a successful drive, Ms. Hadi said, "The leadership demonstrated by the Springfield UNA Chapter exemplifies how an entire community can be successfully galvanized to help alleviate the hardships faced by others, across borders and thousands of miles away. I am proud to have worked with such high caliber of global citizens."

Night of A Thousand Dinners

The UNA-USA is also a participant in the Night of a Thousand Dinners. It is an international event designed to create awareness of the global landmine problem.
